Frequently asked questions
Do I need broadcasting experience?+
No. Unit 01 starts with a 60-second introduction and assumes no previous experience.
Do I need expensive equipment?+
A smartphone or computer with a camera and microphone is enough to begin. Headphones and a quiet recording space help. Admissions will confirm any equipment needed for practical sessions.
How long does the programme take?+
You complete 15 foundation units and eight units in your chosen pathway. Admissions will confirm the duration, weekly schedule and dates for the next intake.
Is it online or in person?+
Admissions will confirm delivery modes and any in-person practical sessions before enrolment. Lessons, assignments and assessor feedback are managed through the learning platform.
Which pathway should I choose?+
Choose Programme Formats for talk, music, drama, documentary and factual production. Choose Sports Broadcasting for sports writing, commentary, production and marketing. You can select “Not sure yet” when you apply.
What is the certification status?+
The curriculum is mapped to the NSQ Level 3 standard in Broadcasting, and the unit standard has been drafted for NBTE review. A formal NSQ award depends on validation and assessment at an approved centre.
How am I assessed?+
Your assessor reviews practical recordings, written work and portfolio evidence against each unit’s performance criteria. Assessment also includes direct observation and professional discussion. There are no sit-down exams.
What if I miss a deadline?+
Contact your assessor or admissions as early as possible. Extension and resubmission arrangements will be shared with your cohort before you start.
Can I pay in instalments?+
Admissions will confirm fees and available payment options before you accept an offer.
Will you help me find work?+
Unit 08 includes a career plan, and your portfolio gives you work to show employers. Employment, placements and internships are not guaranteed.
